Calvinism: Inherited Depravity, Unconditional Election, Perseverance, and Grace

Calvinism and the Gospel of Christ
A Comparison between the Bible and the Points of Calvinist Teaching

A study of Calvinism: Does the Bible teach inherited depravity (original sin), unconditional election (predestination), limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance (eternal security) of the saints?

Many modern denominations uphold various parts of the teaching of John Calvin. How do the doctrines of Calvinism compare to the Bible? Is depravity inherited from Adam (original sin) so we are born totally depraved? Is election unconditional by predestination, or are we free moral agents? Was the atonement of Jesus' death limited only to those who are unconditionally predestined, or is salvation freely offered to all? Does God's grace offer salvation to all based on man's power to choose, or does it unconditionally give irresistible justification to the elect? Can a child of God so sin as to be lost, or are we once saved, always saved (eternal security of the believer and perseverance of the saints)? Are we saved just by believing (faith only), or must be meet conditions including obedience and baptism?

Calvinism includes five major doctrines. The free articles below discuss Calvinistic teaching about forgiveness of sin and salvation in light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Learn the Bible truth about salvation, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life. Does the church you attend teach Calvinism?
